Christmas Service at St Peter's Church

Chilcote School had a fantastic morning at St Peter's Church, the whole school walked to St Peter's Church for a Christmas Service and the children  really did both parents and teachers proud, their walking and attitude was exemplary. The pupils singing was brilliant (watch the videos below-  they really were amazing) and very much added to the Christmas spirit. The teachers did their bit as well through the reading of the Christmas story and by Mr Cross, Mrs Ashton, Mr Merrick, Miss Deneny, Mrs Thomas and Miss Bramley playing traditional Christmas music.

Santa Visits Reception!

This afternoon we had a special visitor. We were so surprised and excited when Santa came through the door! We sang some festive songs to him and promised that we would leave a treat for him and his reindeer on Christmas Eve.

Christmas Dinner 2017

On Wednesday we had a  delicious Christmas lunch. We enjoyed eating with our friends, pulling crackers and listening to Christmas music.

Autumn Term in Year 1

Year 1 have had a brilliant Autumn Term. For the first half term we transitioned between Reception and Year 1 with choosing activities as well as our focused work. In Autumn 2 we have been working very hard doing our work and our lessons as a whole class.

Our topic for Autumn 1 was 'Our World'. We enjoyed a trip around our local area and learnt all about trees and birds we might find in 'Our World'.

We painted trees, made clay birds and at home we created our very own bird projects which were fabulous!

Here are some of our bird projects:

Year 1 learnt about Dementia UK when we raised money for them by wearing blue. Mrs Butler came to talk to us about the charity and who they help.

As part of learning about 'Our World' we learnt about our rights and we took part in UNICEF's World's Largest Lesson, finding out about where our food comes from.

We also painted some self-portraits in the style of Chuck Close.

In Autumn 2, our topic was 'Toys'. We have enjoyed finding out about toys from the past, especially when we went on our trip to Cannock Chase Toy Museum.

Here is some of our writing about our trip to the toy museum:

We asked our families about the toys they liked to play with and to end our topic we designed and made our own puppets.

Well done for all your hard work this term Year 1! Have a super holiday.
