Year 1`s trip to Cannock Chase Toy museum

On Thursday 30th January, Year 1 travelled up to Cannock Chase to visit the fantastic Toy museum.
We had a great day, learning about toys from the past, exploring how to play with a variety of old wooden toys and we also learned to play Hopscotch and use the diabolo too.
In the museum itself, we looked at lots of old toys and played with a a variety of old and new toys, including riding a lovely old rocking horse and dressing up.
We thoroughly enjoyed Clive`s Punch and Judy show and learned about glove puppets and string puppets (marionettes).
After lunch, we all made a peg doll toy to bring home.

Thank you so much to all of our fantastic helpers who joined in very enthusiastically and supported us during the day. We really appreciated your help.

Remembrance Day in Year 2

In Year Two we made poppies using tissue paper and we tied them onto the 100. We were remembering the end of World War One 100 years ago.

We learnt all about a nurse called Edith Cavell who helped the people who were injured in WW1. We decided that Edith was a hero for helping all soldiers no matter which side they were fighting for. We wanted to say thank you to Edith Cavell and the other nurses and doctors who treated people during the war.

Commemorating Remembrance day in Reception

On Friday 10th November, we learned about what Remembrance day is, why we wear poppies and why it is important to commemorate this important day. We painted poppies and decorated them with glitter and observed the 2 minute silence at 11 o`clock.
Later Reception attended the whole school assembly and listened to some of our school trumpet players playing `The Last Post`.
