Chilcote Brass concert

On Wednesday 4th March, Chilcote Brass players performed at a super concert for parents. We were very proud of them all as they played beautifully. We heard some super solos and group pieces and it was lovely to hear our beginner groups play at their first concert. The brass band finished the performance, playing in different parts successfully.

Many thanks to Mr Fisher for all his hard work and support and well done to all our players. 

Chilcote school annual Christmas service at St Peter`s church

On Friday 20th December, we held our annual Christmas Service at St Peters Church.
The whole school travelled to St Peters by double decker bus or minibus as the weather forecast was for heavy rain . Everyone behaved beautifully, had excellent audience manners and the singing sounded fantastic. It was a very special morning.
Year 6 and staff acted out a retelling of the Christmas story and described how Christmas and Christianity is similar to other faiths and religions.Year 6 all received a Christingle which they held alight at the front of the church. The school staff band played a selection of Christmas carols and we were very pleased to welcome back Mrs Bramley, who is an important member of the band.
  Well done everyone. All the staff are very proud of you.

A very busy term in Nursery

The children in Nursery have now all settled well into our daily routines and are really enjoying the activities we undertake in our sessions.   

The children have all worked very hard over the last few weeks and are happy and excited by any new experiences they can explore.   

The children have shown us how creative and artistic they are.   They have developed friendships and are learning to play and learn with each other well.

Just a few of the happy times we have spent leaning during the Autumn Term.   

We can't wait for more adventures in 2020!

Well done, Junior Choir for performing so well at St Peter`s church.

On Saturday 7th December, Junior choir performed at St Peter`s church, Hall Green. We sang to a packed church, alongside Birmingham Schools` Concert band led by Mr Fisher.
It was lovely to see some of our talented Chilcote friends playing in the band-well done Oriana and Jayden, super performances.

Our choir sang extremely well, despite not having all of our members available and it was a new experience for our Year 3 members too. Mrs Doherty and I were very proud of their performance and their behaviour too, showing good audience manners and listening well throughout the concert.
Thank you very much Junior choir, for representing our school so well on a busy Saturday, thank you very much also to our families for supporting us.

Visit from the Music Service String Group

On Friday 6th September, Years 1-6 enjoyed a visit and performance from 7 string teachers from the Birmingham  Music Service. They played a variety of different styles of music and talked to us about why they enjoyed playing their particular instruments. 

Nicholas helped them play one particular piece by playing a steady beat for them to play along with. Well done Nicholas.

It was very inspiring and enjoyable. Thank you very much to Miss Hobbs and Mrs Mulenga- our string teachers, for organising such a super concert. 

Junior Choir at St Peter`s festival Saturday 29th June 2019

On Saturday 29th June, Chilcote Junior choir (looking smart in their lovely choir t shirts) took part in a super concert as part of St Peter`s festival at St Peter`s church. The choir sang a variety of songs confidently and enthusiastically to a large audience. It was a very hot afternoon and our choir handled themselves very well, sitting sensibly and quietly for over an hour.
The audience were very supportive and complimentary about how well our children had performed. We were very proud of you all as it was quite a challenge performing for such a large audience in a venue with tricky acoustics.
We also enjoyed listening to Birmingham schools` Concert Band, Youth Proms Symphonic Brass and Birmingham schools` Brass Ensemble who performed to a very high standard.
Thank you to all our pupils- and families who supported this event on a Saturday afternoon during a very busy time of year. We are very grateful for all your enthusiasm and kind words.

Year 2 at Symphony hall

On Monday 3rd June, Year 2 set off with much excitement to catch the train into town to take part in an interactive singing concert especially designed for Year 2 children at Symphony hall. We enjoyed a picnic in the park on our way and then walked on to Symphony hall

The concert was fantastic and we all joined in enthusiastically with the new songs and games. It was great to learn some new repertoire as well as sing some of our favourites that we had previously learned at school. Mrs Harris, Miss Deneny, Mrs James and Mrs Rafter had to go up onto the stage to help with some of the songs which was great fun! Mr Tambie also had to go up on stage, and pretend be a pirate. We thought he made an excellent pirate - arr matey!
Everyone behaved beautifully. We were a credit to the school and we all thoroughly enjoyed our singing experience.
Very many thanks to Mrs Rashid, Mr Tambie, Ms Gharabaury, and Ms Mokgweetsi who gave up their time to accompany us and many thanks too to Mrs Rafter, Mrs Begum and Mrs King for all their help and enthusiasm.

We will enjoy sharing our new songs and games with other children back at school.

Dhol drumming concert

On Tuesday 9th April, we enjoyed a performance from our Dhol drummers who played for their families and friends.

Led by Mr Singh, they all played confidently and showed great skill in playing a variety of different pieces.

It was lovely to see the progress that they have all made this year and to see their concentration and teamwork as they played complex pieces.

Thank you very much to all our super players, their families for attending and being such a supportive audience and especially to Mr Singh for all of his hard work and support this year.

Year 3 Recorder concert

On Thursday 28th March, the whole of Year 3 performed on their recorders for their families and friends. They all tried very hard and played 5 different pieces very well as a team
We have only been learning to play the recorder for 10 weeks and have worked hard, learning the fingering, playing skills and learning to read from music notation.
We have had fun playing different pieces and were proud to show our new skills to our families.
Many thanks to Miss Scarle, Mr Bannister and Mrs Chohan for their support and encouragement and a big thank you to our lovely audience who were warm and encouraging.
Remember that our Year 3 players can now get ready to join our Year 4 recorder lunchtime club next school year if they would like to continue to play and develop their skills.
