Chilcote Violin and Viola concert

On Tuesday, over 40 Chilcote violin and viola players performed in a concert for their families, playing pieces they have learned over the last term at school. They all played extremely well in their groups and some pupils also played solos confidently.
It was lovely to see the good progress made by the pupils since the beginning of the year and to witness the teamwork in all of the group performances.
Well done to you all and to Miss Hobbs who has taught and supported you so positively all year.

Thank you very much to all of our families too for the support you give at home-and to Miss Hobbs for all her hard work this academic year.

Unfortunately, not all groups are pictured here as the ipad failed to record the last few performances correctly. Watch this space for  a further blog to show their work too.

Year 1`s trip to Cannock Chase Toy museum

On Thursday 30th January, Year 1 travelled up to Cannock Chase to visit the fantastic Toy museum.
We had a great day, learning about toys from the past, exploring how to play with a variety of old wooden toys and we also learned to play Hopscotch and use the diabolo too.
In the museum itself, we looked at lots of old toys and played with a a variety of old and new toys, including riding a lovely old rocking horse and dressing up.
We thoroughly enjoyed Clive`s Punch and Judy show and learned about glove puppets and string puppets (marionettes).
After lunch, we all made a peg doll toy to bring home.

Thank you so much to all of our fantastic helpers who joined in very enthusiastically and supported us during the day. We really appreciated your help.

Celebrating Chinese New year in Nursery

We have had an exciting day learning about Chinese New Year.   We have made Dragon masks and paper lanterns as well as a dragon's head!    In our PE lesson we used the dragon's head for a dragon dance.   It was great fun!

Junior Choir at Young Voices

On Friday 17th January, Junior choir performed at the Resorts World Arena at the NEC as part of a choir of nearly 6,000 children.
We were very proud of all the choir as they behaved beautifully, had super audience manners when listening to the other performers and sang and performed dance moves very well.
We have been learning the songs since the beginning of September, so it was very exciting to be finally taking part in the concert.
It was a very long day with a full morning at school, an afternoon rehearsal lasting 2 and 1/2 hours and then a concert lasting 1 and 3/4 hours.
We thoroughly enjoyed performing alongside Ruti- from The Voice, The Shires and Tony Hadley.
Thank you very much to Mrs Drew, Mrs Smith, Mrs Eames and Mrs Bundy- our fabulous parent helper- we really appreciate your constant support and enthusiasm and for giving up your evening to accompany us.
We arrived back at school at 10pm, very tired but full of fantastic memories of a great experience.

Nursery in the Garden

The children had an exciting afternoon working in the garden with Dave.   He showed them how to plant bean seeds and how to put plants into containers.  When the plants start to grow the containers will be placed around school.    They brought the bean seeds back to the classroom so that they can look after them until they grow.
