On Tuesday 25th February twenty four children from Chilcote represented the school in both a Year 3 and 4 tennis competition and a Year 5 and 6 tennis competition. The competition was held at Billesley tennis centre.
The format for the competition was teams of four children, two boys and two girls. They were ranked 1 and 2. Each Chilcote team played other schools and matched up with their corresponding ranked pupil from the other school. Each game counted towards the teams score in the overall match.
In the Year 3 and 4 competition, Chilcote A played five fixtures and won them all and finished in first place overall! Chilcote B also won the B/C competition winning all of their matches too. Chilcote C finished a very respectable 4th place in this competition too!
In the Year 5 and 6 competition, Chilcote A repeated the feat of their younger counterparts and won all of their matches to come away with the gold medal too! Chilcote B finished in second place in the B/C competition and Chilcote C finished in first place!
The children represented the school amazingly well and did Chilcote proud. Well done to all involved!

Year 6 Cross Country Competition
On Tuesday 5th November 12 children from Year 6 represented the school in a cross country competition at Daisy Farm Park.
The children were split into three races: boys race A, girls race A and mixed B race. Four boys and four girls ran in the two A races, with everybody else running in the B race.
In the boys race the boys finished in 5th, 6th, 11th and 12th to give a combined score of 33 points. In the girls race the girls finished in 7th, 10th, 15th and 18th to give a combined score of 50 points. This meant that overall Chilcote scored a total of 83 points.
In the B race the Chilcote children finished in 2nd, 5th, 7th and 8th place - a great achievement!
This meant that in the A competition Chilcote finished in third place overall. Well done to all of the children involved on a great night of running!

Year 5 Cricket Tournament
On Wednesday 5th June ten children from Year 5 represented the school at a cricket tournament held at Moseley Ashfield cricket ground.
The schools were split into two groups with four teams in each group. The schools played the teams in their group once and then would play the school who finished in the same position in the other group.
In this from of cricket each team started on 200 runs and lose 5 runs per wicket lost. They score runs in the normal way.
Chilcote started with a game against The Oaks and decided to bowl first. They bowled and fielded excellently and The Oaks finished their innings on 180 runs. Chilcote then batted and scored a very good 277 in reply. Thus, they won the game by 97 runs.
Their next game was against Grendon, again they decided to bowl first. They restricted Grendon to a score of 207 runs because again they bowled and fielded amazingly well. In reply, Chilcote managed to score 274 runs in reply with an outstanding batting perfromance. This meant that they won the game by 67 runs.
In the final game Chilcote played against Allens Croft School. Allens Croft chose to bat first and posted a score of 213 runs. Chilcote were again superb in the field and with their bowling. Chilcote then replied by scoring 254 after they had made a few silly mistakes. This meant that they won the game by 41 runs.
This meant that Chilcote made it to the final where they played Hollywood Primary School. Hollywood chose to bowl first and put Chilcote into bat. Chilcote batted superbly well and didn't give away hardly any wickets. They posted a score of 278. Hollywood then replied with 210 runs as Chilcote bowled even better than they had before. They bowled accurately and quickly. This meant that they won the game by 68 runs and won the final!!!
Well done to all of the children, as they represented the school superbly well and showed their great sportsmanship throughout!!!

Year 5 and 6 Mixed Netball Tournament
On Wednesday 10th April 2019, eight children represented Chilcote at a mixed netball tournament held at Kings Heath Boys' School.
In total, nine teams entered the tournament and were split into two groups. Everybody in the group played each other once. The winners from each group went through to a final and the second place team in each group went through to a third and fourth place play-off.
Chilcote were in a group with Hollywood, The Oaks and Grendon. They started their campaign against Hollywood. The game was close with Chilcote having slightly more chances to score. They took a lead but then couldn't capitalise on the lead and conceded an equaliser late on in the match. With the clock ticking down and the match looking like it would be drawn Chilcote put away their last chance of the match with virtually the last throw of the match to win 2v1.
In their second game, Chilcote played against the Oaks. They dominated the ball and the chances. Unfortunately, the missed a few chances but did manage to take an early lead. They continued to be the better team and went on to score two more goals later in the match to make the final score 3v0.
In their final group game, Chilcote played against Grendon and played their best netball of the night. The GA and GS really had their shooting hands with them in this game and Chilcote took many of their chances. They raced into the lead and were then relentless in creating and scoring chances. They ended up winning the match 9v0. Therefore, they qualified for the final as winners of their group.
In the final, Chilcote played against Cotteridge, who had been unbeaten in their group. It was a tough game and Cotteridge scored from their first attack. Chilcote tried their best but just couldn't create opportunities as the Cotteridge defence was too tough. The final score was 4v0 to Cotteridge.
Second place overall is a fantastic achievement! Well done to all of the children involved!!!

Chilcote B played in a separate competition and played against The Oaks, Hollywood and Bells Farm. They managed to finish in first place in their group so went through to a final against Hall Green. Unfortunately, they lost the final 4v0 but the scores were close in each match. This meant that they finished in second place in their competition!!!
Chilcote C played in yet another separate competition and played against: Hollywood, Robin Hood and The Oaks. They had varied success against each school and as their’s was just a league finished in second place in their competition!!!

Year 6 Cycling Tournament
On Thursday 11th October Chilcote entered the first ever Kings Heath School Sports Partnership Cycling tournament. The event took place at Kings Heath Boys School.
The children competed in teams of four on three different events. The events were all times and points were given out for certain times to give each team an overall score. These overall scores were combined to see which team had accrued the most points on the evening.
In total fifteen separate teams entered the event and competed. Chilcote entered three teams into the competition.
The children competed in a ride and run event where they had to cycle half a lap whilst a partner ran and then swap halfway to do the opposite. They did a slalom relay as a team and then a 4 x 2 lap relay of the cycling circuit.
All three teams performed very well and made good times. Particularly in the two lap relay race to finish.
The top three teams were as follows:
3 rd place - Yardley Wood
2 nd place - Chilcote B
1 st place - Chilcote A
Out of fifteen teams Chilcote finished in first and second position which is an amazing achievement!
Well done to all three teams, who all performed superbly well and represented the school excellently!!!

Summer Games Finals Day
On Friday 13th July eleven Year 5 children and ten Year 4 children represented Chilcote at founders and super 4s athletics respectively, at the Summer Games Finals day. The finals were held at King Edwards School.
Both teams had won the local Kings Heath Partnership tournament in their respective sports and were facing the other area winners from around Birmingham.
The rounders team were one of eleven schools to have qualified. They were put into a group of six and had to play each of those schools once. They lost their first two matches, won the third and then narrowly lost the fourth and fifth. This ,want that they finished in 4th place in their group and finished in 9th place overall. A fantastic achievement by the children - well done to all!!!
The super 4s athletics team were one of 31 schools who qualified for the finals (the top 3 schools from each area qualified). Each child from Chilcote had to perform a standing long jump, a sprint, a long distance run (400m), a javelin throw and finally they ran a relay race as a team. All of the children did their best and performed very well. When they had done everything their distances and times were converted to points as a team. Chilcote finished on 1279 points and in tenth place overall, which was only 100 points off third place. A remarkable achievement - well done to all of the children!!!

Year 4 and Year 6 Tennis Finals
On Friday 22nd June four children from Year 4 and four children from Year 6 represented the school in a mixed tennis tournament at Cannon Hill park. Both Year groups were representing the Kings Heath Partnership at the Birmingham finals courtesy of winning the local partnership event.
In both tournaments there were eleven teams split into two groups. Chilcote were in the group of six for both. Each member of the team played against the corresponding player from the other school for a set amount of time. Then their results were put together to make a score. If it was 2v2 after the four games the result of the overall match was determined by who had scored the most points across the four games.
The Year 4 children drew their first game 2v2 and drew on points scored with the school. They then won 3v1, 3v1, 4v0 and 3v1 in their next four matches. Due to the draw they had to replay against the first team and drew 2v2 again but this time the other school scored 2 more points. This meant that the group was tied three ways between Chilcote and two other schools. Fortunately, courtesy of individual wins Chilcote finished in first place in the group and progressed into the final to play against the winners of the other group - Coppice. Unfortunately, this was a step too far and Coppice ran out 4v0 winners. Having said this the Chilcote children finished the day ranked as the second best primary school tennis team in Birmingham - an incredible achievement!!!

They lost the next match too, again 3v1 but won the final match of the day 3v1. So all in all they won 2, lost 3 including the draw/loss on points. This meant that they finished fourth in the group and as the 7th best primary school tennis team in Birmingham for Year 6 - a remarkable achievement!!!

In total, four schools entered the tournament: Chilcote, Hall Green, Bells Farm and The Oaks. They each played each other once in a round-robin format and the school with the most points at the end would be the winner.
Chilcote started against The Oaks and were put into bat first. They batted well and scored 256 runs. Chilcote then fielded and bowled. They were brilliant and managed to keep The Oaks to a score of 201. So a 55 run win in the first game with ten wickets taken.
In their second game Chilcote played against Bells farm, who opted to bat first. They posted a good score of 224 for 3. Again Chilcote bowled and fielded excellently. In reply they managed to score a fantastic 270 runs.
In their final game Chilcote played against Hall Green who had also won all of their matches. It was a thrilling and tense encounter with both teams playing some superb cricket. Hall Green set a score of 272 to draw and 273 to win. Chilcote batted well and went into the final two overs needing 12 runs off 12 balls. This then turned into 8 runs off the final 6 balls. Unfortunately in chasing the win they lost a wicket at the end and ended up on 263. A fantastic effort by all of the children!

On Thursday 24th May nine children in Year 6 represented the school in a mixed Handball competition at Kings Heath Boys School.
In total four teams entered the competition, including Chilcote, and each team played each other once. If there was a tie on points at the end of the mini league then the positions would be determined on the head-to-head results between the two tied schools.
In their first match Chilcote played against Kings Norton and took an early setback when conceding from Kings Nortons first attack. However, they rallied and equalised through Madison. They then took the lead through another goal from Madison. Unfortunately, Kings Norton managed to get an equaliser of their own and make it 2v2. Just before the end though Josh had a shot which squirmed through the goalkeepers hands and meant Chilcote won the match 3v2.
In their second game Chilcote struggled against the Oaks. The Oaks dominated the match and really found their shooting hands. Chilcote did take the lead but due to some poor marking ended up losing the match 6v2.
For their final game Chilcote played against Hollywood and recovered from their previous defeat playing their best handball of the day. They made quick passes and took their chances really well. They defended much better too. The game finished 4v1 to Chilcote.
The league finished as follows:

2) Kings Norton 6
3) The Oaks 4
4) Hollywood 1

Year 4 Cross Country Tournament
On Wednesday 23rd May 2018 twelve Year 4 children from Chilcote represented the school in a cross country competition at Walkers Heath Field.
For the competition there was a girls' race and a boys' race. The distance was 600m. Each child was awarded a finishing position and then the four best finishing positions were added together to give a boys score and a girls score.
The girls ran first and did really well. They scored 74 overall from their four best finishers. They finished in 8th, 13th, 24th, 29th, 49th and 50th out of over 70 girls in total.
The boys ran second and did incredible! They scored a very low score of 34. They finished in 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 41st. To have four boys in the top 10 out of over 70 boys is a remarkable achievement!
The two totals were then added together to give a school total. The results were as follows:

Therefore, Chilcote finished in second position overall. What a fantastic achievement by all of the children in who represented Chilcote in the competition, well done to all!!!
For the competition there was a girls' race and a boys' race. The distance was 600m. Each child was awarded a finishing position and then the four best finishing positions were added together to give a boys score and a girls score.
The girls ran first and did really well. They scored 74 overall from their four best finishers. They finished in 8th, 13th, 24th, 29th, 49th and 50th out of over 70 girls in total.
The boys ran second and did incredible! They scored a very low score of 34. They finished in 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 41st. To have four boys in the top 10 out of over 70 boys is a remarkable achievement!
The two totals were then added together to give a school total. The results were as follows:

2) Chilcote 108
3) Hollywood 126
4) Kings Norton 133
5) St Josephs 146
6) Yardley Wood 161
7) Bells Farm 190

Year 4 Super 4s Athletics
On Wednesday 17th May, ten children from Year 4 represented Chilcote in a mixed Super 4s Athletics tournament at Kings Heath Boys’ School.
In total seven teams took part. A team was made up of five boys and five girls. Each child had to do a sprint, a 400m run, a throw and a standing long jump. The best 4 tikes/distances were taken from boys and girls in each team and converted to points to give an overall points score for each school.
The Chilcote boys did particularly well at throwing and the Chilcote girls did really well at the standing long jump. In all fairness all if the athletes did well at all of the events.
When all of the points were calculated the finishing positions for each school were as follows:
1) Chilcote
2) Kings Norton
3) Hollywood
4) Yardley Wood
5) Hollywood B
6) Bells Farm
7) Grendon
As you can see Chilcote finished in first place overall and were 30 points ahead of second place. A fantastic achievement.

The children were split into three teams of four (two boys and two girls in each). The boys and girls were numbered boy 1 and boy 2 and girl 1 and girl 2.
Chilcote A and C were in the same group alongside Bells Farm A, The Oaks B, The Oaks D and Hall Green B.
Chilcote B were in a group with Hollywood, The Oaks C, Bells Farm B, The Oaks A and Hall Green A.
Each player played against their corresponding number from the other schools. Each child received 2 points for a win, 1 point for a draw and 0 points for a loss for their team. The teams total score was worked out after all the matches were played and this gave a finishing position for each team.

Year 2 Multi Skills
Yesterday we were lucky enough to visit the Multi Skills Festival. We all took part in 10 different activities, including balancing bean bags on our heads, practising our dribbling skills with a basketball, taking a shot at goal and throwing at a target.
Everyone had a fantastic time and we all tried our very best in each activity. Our teachers were very impressed with our PE skills and also our fantastic behaviour.

Year 5 and 6 Mixed Netball Tournament
On Wednesday 21st March eight children from the Chilcote netball squad represented the school at a mixed high 5 netball tournament at Kings Norton Girls School. In total eight teams took part and were split into two groups of four.
Chilcote were placed into a group with Cotteridge A, Bells Farm and Kings Norton. In their first game they played against Kings Norton. It was a pretty even match with both teams having chances to score but not taking them. Unfortunately, just before the end of the game Kings Norton managed to score 1 and win the game 1v0.
In their second game Chilcote played against Cotteridge A. Cotteridge dominated the match and Chilcote just couldn't get out of their third. Cotteridge deservedly won the game 4v0. Chilcote did have a chance to score right at the end but didn't take it.
Finally, Chilcote played against Bells Farm and they were the more dominant team and had four or five great chances to score. Unfortunately, they did not take any of them. Bells Farm then scored with one of teir two chances in the match and won the game 1v0.
This meant that Chilcote finished fourth in the group and went into a 7th and 8th place play off with Hollywood. Chilcote finally found their shooting hands and took some of their chances. They scored almost straight away and then never looked back. They went on to win the game 3v0 and finish the tournament in 7th place.
Well done to all of the children who represented the school so brilliantly!!!

On Wednesday 14th March, four children from Chilcote represented the school at a mixed tennis tournament at Billesley tennis center.
Seven schools entered the tournament and all the schools played each other once. The teams were split into boy 1, boy 2, girl 1 and girl 2. The children then played against the corresponding opponent from the other schools. Each child had the chance to earn 2 points for the team by winning, 1 point for a draw and 0 points for a loss. The total points for each team was calculated after all of the matches to give the overall winning team.
Chilcote started off with a game against Yardley Wood and all four children managed to win their individual matches, thus earning 8 points.
Secondly, Chilcote played against Hollywood and won three of the four matches and picked up another six points.
Next, they played against The Oaks and again managed to get maximum points (8).
After that, they played against Grendon and fantastically managed to get 8 points again. After four matches the children had won eleven out of a possible twelve games.
Then, Chilcote had their toughest match of the day so far and unfortunately had a mini wobble. They drew one, lost two and won one of their four matches.
This meant moving into the final game Chilcote had to win more than their opponents, Bells Farm as they were 1 point going into the final match. Fortunately, Chilcote won three and lost only one of their matches.
The final scores for all the schools were:

3) Hall Green 30
4) Yardley Wood 21

On Wednesday 7th March 2018 eight children represented Chilcote in a mixed tag-rugby tournament at Kings Heath Boys School.
Four teams entered the competition and it was played as a league format.
Chilcote played against St Josephs first and scored straight from the off. St Josephs then got a 3v1 lead before Chilcote pulled it back to 3v3. After that, St Josephs deservedly went back ahead and won the game 7v3.
In their second game, Chilcote played against Yardley Wood, who had won their first game. In that game Chilcote took the lead and then extended it quite quickly. Yardley Wood did come back into it but Chilcote then went and score two more. The game ended 4v2 to Chilcote.
Finally, Chilcote played against The Oaks and played superbly well. They scored a fair few excellent tries and defended superbly. It was the first game that any team did not concede a try and they won 5v0.
When all the results were in Chilcote had finished in a deserved second place. All the children played really well and represented the school superbly, well done to all!!!

On Tuesday 30th January eighteen children from Chilcote participated in a mixed sportshall athletics tournament at Kings Heath Boys School. In total five schools participated in the tournament.
The children each had to do two track events from: obstacle relay; 1 + 1 lap relay; 2 + 2 lap relay; 1 + 1 lap hurdles relay; over/under relay; 4 x 1 lap relay.
The children also had to do two events from the field, which were: chest push; standing long jump; five strides jump; vertical jump; soft javelin; speed bounce.
The children had their distances, scores and times measured and this gave them a score which gave Chilcote an overall team score against the other schools.
When all the scores were in and counted the results were as follows:

2) Bells Farm
3) Yardley Wood
4) Hollywood
5) The Oaks
