Year 6 Boys' 4-a-side Tournament

On Wednesday 27th April Chilcote played in the finals of the South Birmingham Boys' 4-a-side competition. They qualified for this after winning their qualifying evening without losing a game.

In their first match the boys played against St. Martins School and lost 5v3. They had chances but were asleep at the start of the match and allowed St Martins to build an unassailable lead.

Next, Chilcote played against Wheelers Lane. They were heading for a second defeat, but right at the death grabbed an equaliser to make it 2v2.

Finally, Chilcote played against Colmore School. Thy started well and took the lead. Unfortunately, they then conceded four goals without reply and lost the game 4v1.

The boys did really well and represented the school brilliantly. A great final with outstanding quality on show from all of the schools on show!!!

Amazing animals

On the 27th of April Nursery, Year 1 and Year 3 children had the chance to see, hold, and learn about interesting animals and insects. The children enjoyed learning about what the animals eat, where they sleep, and what their natural habitats are. All children behaved beautifully and asked interesting questions to the animal expert.

Year 3 Residential Trip to Kingswood

On Wednesday 20th April Year 3 went on their residential trip to Kingswood Staffordshire. They spent two nights and three days enjoying the fantastic outdoor facilities.

The children had to make up their own beds upon arrival, which was a great display of home practise. Thank you to all of the parents for helping with this.

During their stay the children enjoyed a range of activities working with different children than they are used to. These included: archery, quad-biking, abseiling, climbing, zip-wire, problem-solving, team tech, fencing, orienteering, a disco and the trail of mystery.

The children also spent some of their pocket money in the shop buying an assortment of different souvenirs and sweets.

All of the adults who accompanied Year 3 were very proud of the way they represented the school. Their behaviour and levels of respect for all adults was exemplary throughout. Well done Year 3!!!

Open Hour in Reception

We had a lovely time in Reception on Wednesday 20th April when we invited our families in for an `Open Hour`. We enjoyed showing them how we `plan, do and review` our activities and how we identify the skills we are practising, using our `Achievesaurus dinosaurs` to ensure that we become effective learners.

We were also very proud to show off our Dinosaur exhibition of the amazing dinosaurs we had made from different 3D shapes at home. Thank you so much to our families for helping us to create such fantastic models and for joining us in our classes!

Year 1's Entry Point Day

Year 1 have had a very busy day today running a café in their classrooms.   This was the Entry Point day for our new topic "We Are What We Eat".
We started our day writing instructions about how to wash our hands as we knew we had to make sure we did this before preparing and serving the food in the café.   Later we made menus for the food we were going to sell and the drinks we were going to serve.   We also made ourselves a Chefs hat so that we looked the part!
We all took turns to either be a customer or a member of the café staff.   We were very busy.   It was great fun.
We practised adding up the amounts of money the customers spent and sorting out which coins we needed to use to pay.

We have had a fantastic day!

Year 5 English Homework

Here is a link to the story of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' that we watched in class when we first looked at the play before Easter.  You might want to watch it again to help you with your homework this week.

Year 4 Mixed Hockey Torunament

On Wednesday 13th April, two teams of six children, in Year 4, from Chilcote represented the school in a mixed hockey tournament. The tournament took place at Hollywood school on their playground. Ten schools took part in the tournament.

The schools were split into three groups. Chilcote B were in a group of four. They played all of the other schools once. They won all of their matches and finished as group winners. Chilcote A were in a group of three and played the other schools twice. They won two, drew one and lost one, but still managed to finish top of their group too!

In the semi-finals the two Chilcote teams avoided each other. Chilcote B played against Chad Vale and lost 1v0 to a golden goal. Chilcote A also lost 1v0 to St Lawrence in their semi-final. This meant that Chilcote finished in third and fourth place overall.

A big well done to all of the children involved in the tournament. They represented the school brilliantly and did themselves proud!!!
