Year 5 and 6 South Birmingham Boys' 7-a-side Tournament

On Friday 14th September the Chilcote boys’ football team played in their first tournament of the season. The South Birmingham 7-a-side competition.

A total of thirteen teams contested the tournament. They were split into four groups. The winners of each group would face each other in the semi-finals.

Chilcote were in a group of 3 against Yardley Wood and St Martins. This meant they would play each other twice. Chilcote started against Yardley Wood and won the game 2v0 with goals from Milan and Ben. In their second game Chilcote beat St Martins 1v0 thanks to a slightly fortuitous goal from Euan. In the second match against Yardley Wood, Chilcote played some of their best football of the night, with Ben being particularly influential. They won the game 3v0 with goals from Ben, Dylan and Milan. Finally Chilcote played and beat St Martins again - 2v0.

This meant that Chilcote won their group and played Colmore in the semi-finals.

The game was a very tight affair with Colmore shading it. They had the better chances but nothing too clear cut. Chilcote got a free-kick six minutes in. James took it and hit a wonderful strike into the top corner of the net. That was enough to see Chilcote win the game 1v0.

In the final Chilcote played against Wheelers Lane. In truth Wheelers Lane were the better side throughout and created three guilt edged chances to score but failed to take any of them. Chilcote struggled to create anything but battled hard and were defensively resolute. The game went to extra time and then penalties. Chilcote had their first penalty saved and hit the post with their second one. Wheelers scored both of their penalties so therefore won the competition.

Chilcote can be very proud of themselves for an excellent night’s work. They didnt concede a goal and only lost a game on penalties. Well done to all of the lads - a promising season ahead!

Year 1's local area walk

As part of our topic 'Our World' Year 1 have been learning about human and physical features we might see in our local area. We went for a walk around our school to take some pictures of different features of our area. The children were fantastic walkers and photographers - well done Year 1!

The children are brilliant at identifying human and physical features so you could quiz them when you're out and about!
