On Wednesday 22nd April 11 children from years 5
and 6 (Max, Bradley, Oliver, Tom, Sam, Leo, Ali, Seren, Connie, Leah and Emily)
represented the school in a mixed tag-rugby competition held at Moseley Rugby
club.
Only two other teams had entered this tournament so it meant
we played them twice each. Chilcote played against Yardley Wood in their first
game. They played really well and won the match 9 v 2. In their second match
they played Hollywood and it was much closer. Chilcote made quite a few
unforced errors with their handling and passing. The game ended 3 v 3. After a
short rest Chilcote then played against Hollywood again. This time they played
much better and won the game 4 v 2. Finally, they played Yardley Wood again. It
was a closer affair than the first game but Chilcote still ran out 5 v 2
winners. These results meant that Chilcote
won the tournament for a second year running.
The children did really well and listened well to the tactic
of ‘run’! What was most impressive though was their defensive work in tagging
the opposition enough times to turn the ball over. Well done to all involved!!!
