On Wednesday 7th June nine children represented Chilcote at a mixed Year 6 cricket tournament. The tournament took place at Moseley Ashfield cricket ground.
In each game every child bats and bowls for an over. If a wicket is lost then the team loses 5 runs. Each team starts on 200 runs.
Chilcote played two games in the group stages. Firstly, they played against Yardley Wood A. They batted first and scored a total of 301 runs. Yardley Wood A batted second and scored 201 runs. Therefore, Chilcote won by 100 runs.
In their second game Chilcote played against Grendon A. They bowled first in this game and Grendon scored 185 runs. Chilcote then batted and scored 296 runs. Consequently, Chilcote won by 111 runs, and they qualified for the final.
In the final Chilcote played against Bells Farm. Bells Farm batted first and scored a total of 212 runs. Chilcote batted really well in the final and made some great decisions. They scored 276 runs and did not lose a single wicket.
This means that the Chilcote team have qualified for the next level of competition which will be against other winning schools from around Birmingham.
Well done to all of the children involved another great achievement!!!
