Christmas Carol Concert at St Peters Church

Today was the annual Christmas Carol Concert held at St Peters Church. Reception through to Year 6 travelled to St Peters. The children's behaviour was brilliant; they walked very sensibly to the church despite the drizzle and their singing was fantastic which really helped create a magical event. The children told the story of Christmas and shared Christmas poetry. Year 6 brought their Christingles which they held alight at the front of the church. A number of teachers played together a selection of Christmas tunes. With a few Year 6 pupils Mrs Doherty even sang and in German! It really was a great event and the pupils of Chilcote really have done, themselves, the teachers, the school and their parents proud!! Well done everyone. And from everyone at Chilcote we hope you have a great festive break.

Junior Choir concerts December 2018

What a busy week Junior Choir have had!
We have performed at Oak Tree Court residential home on Thursday 6th December, St Peter`s Church on Saturday 8th December and we also performed for everyone at school on Tuesday 11th December!
On each of these occasions every member of our choir has performed extremely well in these very different venues and we have received many compliments about our singing. Everyone was also very well behaved, polite and friendly towards the people we met in our community.
Thank you very much to the staff and parents who have supported us on these occasions- Mrs Doherty, Mrs Rafter, Mrs Chopra, Mrs Bloomer and  Mr Guraba, we have really appreciated your time, support and enthusiasm.

Thank you also to our families who have supported us in our weekly practices throughout this term and brought us to the concert at St Peter`s church. We have had a lot to learn and have worked very hard in our weekly sessions.
We look forward to our next event Young Voices-at the World Resorts arena (formerly Genting)  at the NEC on 18th January. The tickets will arrive at the beginning of January, I will hand them out personally to parents when they arrive.

Year 5 and 6 Mixed Basketball League

On Tuesday 4th December seven children represented Chilcote in the local basketball league. The event was held at Kings Heath Boys School.

Chilcote faced three opponents on the night in a mini-league. The fifth team did not attend so all of the teams who were present received a victory for that game.

In their first game Chilcote played against Billesley School. They dominated the match and were clinical with their chances. They scored a total of eight baskets in the ten minute match and only conceded one. This meant they won the match 16v2.

Secondly, Chilcote played against Hollywood A. This game was much tougher and Hollywood were the more dominant team. They had a number of chances but couldn't take them. Chilcote kept hitting them on the break but struggled to create any clear cut opportunities. Hollywood di then sink the first basket of the game but Chilcote replied almost immediately. The game was locked as a draw for a while until Hollywood took another opportunity from long range and sunk a basket. Chilcote then conceded one more whilst trying to get an equaliser. The game ended 6v2 to Hollywood A.

Finally Chilcote played against Chad Vale. The game started quite evenly with both teams having chances. Chilcote then began to take control and scored two quick baskets. They then added a third just before the end. The game ended 6v0 to Chilcote.

Therefore, Chilcote finished in second place on the night. This means they qualify for the higher league in January. Well done to all of the children who took part as they did fantastically!

Chilcote Cello Concert - Friday 30th November

On Friday, Chilcote cellists put on a great performance for their families, playing pieces they have learned this term. They all played extremely well in their groups and some of our older players played solos confidently. It was great to see the progress they have all made this term- from our September beginners to our more experienced players in Year 5 and 6.
Thank you very much to Mrs Mulenga for her hard work with all the pupils and to our appreciative audience for their support and commitment to their children`s music.

I am waiting for 2 more `video` clips to be processed, I will publish them as soon as I receive them.

Brass concert on Monday 3rd December 2018

Today families of  Chilcote brass players enjoyed a fantastic concert, showcasing the work and progress made by our brass players over this term. Everyone played confidently and clearly in their groups and our more experienced players played some great solos. We also enjoyed listening to the `Chilcote brass band`.
It was lovely to see the progression from our `new ` players who have only been playing since September up to our very experienced players of 2 or 3 years.
Well done to you all and to Mr Fisher who has taught you so enthusiastically since September.
Good luck to those who are taking exams this week- we are very proud of you. Thank you very much to the families who were able to attend - we really appreciate your support-and to Mr Fisher for his hard work.

I am waiting for one more `video` clip to be processed- I will publish it on the blog when I receive it.
