On Wednesday 12th November 6 year 6 children
(Anika, Seren, Connie, Kian, Dylan and Ali) represented Chilcote in a mixed
hockey tournament at Hollywood Primary School. They played against 5 other
schools; Hollywood, Bells Farm, Yardley Wood, Kings Norton and The Oaks. The
matches were 4a-side using the ‘quicksticks’ format.
Chilcote started against Kings Heath and after going a goal
down came back to equalise and draw the game 1 v 1, courtesy of a Connie goal.
Then, they played Bells Farm and had a hard fought 0 v 0 draw, which was a fair
result. After that, they played Yardley
Wood in another tight contest, but thanks to a great goal by Kian they won 1 v
0. Next, they played The Oaks and had a few chances to score. It took them a
while but eventually Anika broke the deadlock and Chilcote went on to win the
game 1 v 0. Finally, they played Hollywood school. The game was end to end and
both teams had chances. Kian struck an awesome shot from just inside the
Hollywood half which flew in and they took the lead. Unfortunately, just before
the end Hollywood grabbed an equaliser after Chilcote had lost possession in
their half. The game ended 1 v 1. Although they were unbeaten in the
tournament, Chilcote finished second to Bells Farm on goals scored. A massive
well done to all of the children involved in the tournament!!!
