Recently, Year 6
went on an amazing trip to Rutland to visit another school – Ketton C. of E. Primary
School - where we took part in lots of sports in mixed teams with three other
schools. Some of the sports we participated in were: a penalty shootout,
archery, rounders, dodgeball and many others! We had lots of fun and it would
be incredible to get the chance to go there again as everybody would enjoy it
so much!
The first
activities were penalty shootout and dodgeball. In penalty shootout all the
teams scored lots of points, and had many great goals which got us in the mood
for a whole day of outstanding sports! Next we played dodgeball (for many of us
it was the first time) and we all had lots of fun. Dodgeball is a game where
both teams on either side race to get a ball from the middle. They then try to
hit the other team with the ball. When you’re hit you’re out! However if you
don’t get hit and the ball gets to your side of the court you can pick up the
ball and use it! Every player managed to get another person out and we all
played really well.
Some of the other sports
which took place were rounders and archery. In rounders, everybody got a chance
to bat and run from post to post; all teams scored rounders and all the teams
were very supportive! In archery, everybody aimed to hit the targets and score
the most points possible. Everyone got a go and many even scored lots of
points!
Also, extra points
were awarded to children that particularly supported or encouraged their team
and other teams! Additional points were also given to those children who were
nice and supportive to players when something didn’t go right for them!
Finally, the
winning team got mini trophies and sweets. However, all the other teams got the
great feeling of taking part and helping their team to try and win!
Overall the trip to
Whissendine was a great success!!!
Thanks Amy.
