On Friday 15th September the Chilcote boys' football team took part in their first tournament of the year - the South Birmingham 7-a-side tournament. The tournament took place at Yardley Wood playing fields. A total of fourteen schools entered the tournament and were split into four groups.
Chilcote were drawn in a group with Clifton and Acocks Green. They played Acocks Green first and won 1v0. Then, they beat Clifton 1v0 as well. They then played the two schools again and beat them both 2v0 this time. Therefore, Chilcote finished top of the group and qualified for the semi finals.
In the semi finals Chilcote played against St Ambrose Barlow. It was a good game that Chilcote dominated but they just could not get a goal. After normal time and extra time the game ended 0v0. This meant penalties. Chilcote managed to win 2v1 on penalties and deservedly got to the final.
In the final Chilcote played against Colmore. Colmore were the better side in the match and had the ball in Chilcote's half for long periods but they couldn't find a goal. This meant that the match again went to penalties. Chilcote missed their first two penalties. Which meant Colmore needed to score to win, but they didn't and then Chilcote scored their first penalty in sudden death and Colmore again missed, meaning Chilcote were the winners!
Well done to all of the boys involved as they represented the school brilliantly! They now get to go to a county tournament and represent South Birmingham!
