On Monday 26th February the Chilcote boys' football team played against Billesley School in their first match in South Birmingham division 1. The match took place at Yardley Wood playing fields.
The match started well for both teams with both of them enjoying bits of possession. Gradually, Billesley began to take control of the match and had a quite a few long range efforts, which either went wide or were saved by Benjy. Chilcote defended valiantly all through the half and restricted them to only a few half chances. Then, just before the half time whistle Chilcote broke away and had a really good chance to score but unfortunately they hit the bar.
In the second half the pattern of the match remained the same and Billesley dominated. Although, Chilcote had the first two chances of the half. One they put over and the other, a one on one, was hit straight at the onrushing goalkeeper. Halfway through the half Billesley deservedly took the lead when their best player smashed the ball into the top corner. Chilcote then went for it to try to get back into the game and left themselves open at the back and conceded two more goals to the same player.
Billesley deserved to win the match but had Chilcote taken their chances they may have got a lucky win. The boys did fantastically well considering how cold it was and the constant downfalls of snow. Well done to all involved who did themselves and the school proud!!!
