On Wednesday 4th May 8 children (two teams of four) represented Chilcote in a mixed tennis tournament at Billsley Tennis Centre.
The players played single matches against similar ranked players (1-4). The winner was the team who had the most wins out of the four single matches played by the team. Chilcote A team played in a group of six and Chilcote B team played in a group of five.
Both teams won their groups courtesy of winning the most matches against other teams from the other schools. This meant that they both qualified for the semi finals.
Chilcote A played against Broadmeadow B and beat them three games to one. Chilcote B unfortunately lost their semi final against Bells Farm A three games to one.
That meant that Chilcote A played against Bells Farm A in the final of the competition. They won the final: three games won and one game drew, meaning they did not lose a game in the final!
Therefore, out of 16 teams Chilcote finished in 1st place and 3rd place. A massive achievement for all of those children involved. Well done to everybody!!!
Mrs Doherty: What a fabulous result and a great end to the week. Despite the great score, I know you will have performed with great sportsmanship, as well as all the other values that the Baverstock community promotes and expects from all of its members. Well done and congratulations!
