On Tuesday 17th May ten children represented Chilcote at a cricket Tournament taking place at the Moseley Ashfield Cricket ground. There were a total of twenty four teams who entered the tournament. The tournament was done in a knockout format.
In their first game Chilcote played against Grendon B. They played really well and batted exceptionally. Grendon scored a total of 168 runs and Chilcote scored a total of 256 runs, meaning that Chilcote progressed to the next round.
Secondly, Chilcote played against Hollywood in a very tough match. Hollywood bowled first and kept Chilcote's score down to 222. In their innings Hollywood got to the final over only needing 5 runs to win, but unfortunately for them lost two wickets so finished on 210. Again, this meant that Chilcote progressed to the next round.
In the semi final Chilcote played against Cotteridge School. Chilcote played some fantastic cricket and in their innings actually never lost a single wicket. They finished on 256 to Cotteridge's 203. This meant that they were through to the final.
In the final Chilcote played against Yardley Wood A. Yardley Wood batted first and Chilcote bowled. They bowled and fielded really well and managed to restrict Yardley Wood to 216 runs. Chilcote, in their innings, took advantage of some wayward bowling and got numerous runs for wides and no balls. They ended up winning with a total of 244 runs.
The children represented the school really well, as usual and should be proud of their performance. Well done to all!!!
