On Thursday 3rd November twelve children represented Chilcote in a mixed hockey tournament held at Hollywood Primary School. The children were split into three teams: yellows, light blues and navy blues. The teams consisted of two boys and two girls.
The tournament had a group stage to begin with. The ten schools in attendance were split into two groups of five. Each school would play each other once in the group stages and the winner of each group would get into the final.
Chilcote's light blue team were put in the same group as the navy blue team. They played four matches and drew all of their games. They were really unlucky in a couple of games that the ball just did not go into the goal for them.
Chilcote's navy blue team also drew all of their four matches despite dominating some of those games. They just could not score either. The game between the two Chilcote teams finished in a 0v0 draw.
Chilcote's yellow team had a little more luck in front of goal. They won their first match, drew the next two and then comfortably won their last game. The group was very tight and because other results went their way the yellows managed to finish top of their group and reach the final.
In the final the Chilcote yellow team played against Bells Farm School who had been unbeaten in the group. Chilcote played really well early in the match and took the lead through a great goal from Damian. A little while later, Damian intercepted a pass out and scored again. Bells Farm did manage to get a goal near the end of the match to set up a nail biting finish. Fortunately, Chilcote managed to hold on to the result and win the final 2v1!!!
Well done to all of the children who represented the school. A great performance and effort by all involved!!!
