Chilcote Girls vs St Bernards

On Friday 20th October the Chilcote girls' football team played their next league fixture against St Bernards at Yardley Wood playing fields.

The game started with St Bernards on top. They played some lovely football but to their credit the Chilcote girls defended valiantly. Unfortunately, after 5 minutes St Bernards took the lead when one of their players raced past the Chilcote rearguard and found the back of the net. 5 minutes later the same thing happened again and St Bernards had a 2v0 lead. Then, Chilcote were awarded a free kick just outside of the box which Tamsin took and smashed into the bottom corner of the goal to make the score 2v1 at half time.

In the second half, St Bernards had the hill with them and were attacking all the time but the Chilcote players defended excellently again and Katie pulled off some good saves in goal. Chilcote did have some attacks of their own but unfortunately they did not come to anything. Just before the end of the game St Bernards scored again to make the score 3v1.

Despite the defeat the girls deserve a massive amount of credit for their performance and defensive solidarity. They were all excellent and represented the school superbly. Well done to all!!!
