Year 3 Recorder concert

On Thursday 28th March, the whole of Year 3 performed on their recorders for their families and friends. They all tried very hard and played 5 different pieces very well as a team
We have only been learning to play the recorder for 10 weeks and have worked hard, learning the fingering, playing skills and learning to read from music notation.
We have had fun playing different pieces and were proud to show our new skills to our families.
Many thanks to Miss Scarle, Mr Bannister and Mrs Chohan for their support and encouragement and a big thank you to our lovely audience who were warm and encouraging.
Remember that our Year 3 players can now get ready to join our Year 4 recorder lunchtime club next school year if they would like to continue to play and develop their skills.

Dhol drummers and Recorder group perform at the Awards assembly

This morning, our 2 advanced dhol drumming groups performed at our Awards assembly. Both groups played confidently as a team, independent of adult support. It was so lovely to see how their skills have progressed- some have only played for less than 1 or 2 years.
Well done to you all. Thank you also to Mr Singh who has taught you all every week.

Our Recorder group also played very well. They have worked hard since October, giving up their lunchtimes every Wednesday in order to practise and improve their playing skills and note range.
Thank you- you are sounding lovely. Keep up the good work!

Year 3 Recorder concert - 29th March 2018

Over the past 9 weeks, Year 3 have been learning to play the descant recorder. They have learned to read music from the stave (traditional music notation), play with a good quality tone and perform pieces at a suitable tempo (speed)- some with backing tracks too.
We held a concert for our families and Mrs Thomas, Mr Haycock and the Year 3 staff were very proud of the children`s performances. All the children worked very hard to learn this new instrument and have developed many skills along the way- including working very well as a team.
We hope you enjoy the attached recordings.
