Y3/4 and Y5/6 Tennis Competition

On Tuesday 25th February twenty four children from Chilcote represented the school in both a Year 3 and 4 tennis competition and a Year 5 and 6 tennis competition. The competition was held at Billesley tennis centre.

The format for the competition was teams of four children, two boys and two girls. They were ranked 1 and 2. Each Chilcote team played other schools and matched up with their corresponding ranked pupil from the other school. Each game counted towards the teams score in the overall match.

In the Year 3 and 4 competition, Chilcote A played five fixtures and won them all and finished in first place overall! Chilcote B also won the B/C competition winning all of their matches too. Chilcote C finished a very respectable 4th place in this competition too!

In the Year 5 and 6 competition, Chilcote A repeated the feat of their younger counterparts and won all of their matches to come away with the gold medal too! Chilcote B finished in second place in the B/C competition and Chilcote C finished in first place!

The children represented the school amazingly well and did Chilcote proud. Well done to all involved!

Year 3 and 4 Mixed Tennis Tournament

On Tuesday 5th March twelve children from Year 4 represented Chilcote at a mixed tennis tournament at Billesley Tennis Centre.

The children were split into three teams of four (two boys and two girls in each) and were each told whether they were boy 1 or 2 and girl 1 or 2. They then played the other schools respective player. Each game was timed and the winner was the player who had the most points in the time. The team got points for each win and draw across the four matches.

Chilcote A played against The Oaks, Yardley Wood and Hall Green and won all three matches. This meant they went into the final of their tournament against Bells Farm. They won the final 4v0 to won the tournament overall.

Chilcote B and C played in a separate competition and both did well in their respective groups. Chilcote B finished as runners up in their group so played The Oaks in a third and fourth place playoff. Chilcote C finished in third in their group so finished fifth overall. Chilcote B managed to win their game against The Oaks and finish the tournament in third place.

All of the children in all of the teams did tremendously well and represented the school brilliantly!!! Well done all!!

Year 4 and Year 6 Tennis Finals

On Friday 22nd June four children from Year 4 and four children from Year 6 represented the school in a mixed tennis tournament at Cannon Hill park. Both Year groups were representing the Kings Heath Partnership at the Birmingham finals courtesy of winning the local partnership event.

In both tournaments there were eleven teams split into two groups. Chilcote were in the group of six for both. Each member of the team played against the corresponding player from the other school for a set amount of time. Then their results were put together to make a score. If it was 2v2 after the four games the result of the overall match was determined by who had scored the most points across the four games.

The Year 4 children drew their first game 2v2 and drew on points scored with the school. They then won 3v1, 3v1, 4v0 and 3v1 in their next four matches. Due to the draw they had to replay against the first team and drew 2v2 again but this time the other school scored 2 more points. This meant that the group was tied three ways between Chilcote and two other schools. Fortunately, courtesy of individual wins Chilcote finished in first place in the group and progressed into the final to play against the winners of the other group - Coppice. Unfortunately, this was a step too far and Coppice ran out 4v0 winners. Having said this the Chilcote children finished the day ranked as the second best primary school tennis team in Birmingham - an incredible achievement!!!

The Year 6 children began their first game with a 2v2 draw too but unfortunately lost out on points. They then won their next game 3v1 before losing 3v1 in their next one. They lost the next match too, again 3v1 but won the final match of the day 3v1. So all in all they won 2, lost 3 including the draw/loss on points. This meant that they finished fourth in the group and as the 7th best primary school tennis team in Birmingham for Year 6 - a remarkable achievement!!!

Well done to all of the children involved in the day. Once again they all did the school proud!!!

Year 3 and 4 Mixed Tennis Tournament

On Wednesday 3rd May twelve children l, in three teams, from Chilcote represented the school at a mixed tennis tournament. They played against the children from three other schools, who each had two teams. The tournament took place at Billesley Tennis Centre.

The teams were split into two groups. Chilcote A were in group 1 and Chilcote B and C were in group 2. The teams played singles tennis against an opposing player and their results were collated into a team result.

After playing all their group matches, Chilcote A won all of their games and finished top of their group. Chilcote B won some of their games and finished in third in the group, narrowly missing out on the semi-finals. Chilcote C faired slightly better and managed to win group 2 and get through to the semi-finals.

In the semi-finals both Chilcote teams played against teams from Hall Green Juniors. They both won all their individual games to win both of the matches 4v0. This set up a Chilcote A v Chilcote C final. In the end Chilcote A just had too much for Chilcote C and won the final bringing home the trophy.

What a result for the school, gold and silver! Well done to all three teams for their excellent performance!!!
