On Wednesday 11th March the Chilcote netball squad entered two teams into the Kings Heath Partnership mixed netball competition.
Chilcote A were in a group with Grendon B, Hollywood, Kings Norton and Allens Croft A. They beat Grendon 5v0 and played really well. Next, they played and beat Allens Croft 4v0. After that, they beat Kings Norton 1v0 in a close game. Finally, they played and drew 0v0 with Hollywood despite having numerous chances to win the match. This meant that they won their group and qualified for the final.
Chilcote B were in a group with Grendon A, Yardley Wood, Cotteridge, Allens Croft B and Bells Farm. First, they played Bells farm and lost 3v0. Then, they played and drew with both Grendon and Allens croft 0v0. After that, they played against Cotteridge and lost 3v0. Finally, they played out a close 1v0 defeat with Yardley Wood. Unfortunately, this meant that they did not qualify for the final or third place playoff.
In the final, Chilcote A played a very good Cotteridge team and tried their best to get their game going. They were on the back foot for much of the game and the pressure told halfway through when Cotteridge's GA was left free to score what turned out to be the winning goal. The game ended 1v0 to Cotteridge. Therefore, Chilcote finished the tournament in second place.
Well done to both teams!!!

On Monday 10th February, Chilcote played a mixed netball match against Hollywood school. The game was played at Chilcote. Both schools had an A team and a B team.
In the A team game, Chilcote started really well and took their first two chances. They then missed couple but were still playing well. In the second quarter they increased their lead by another two, so it was 4v0 at half-time. Chilcote continued their dominance into the third quarter. They were defending really well and limiting Hollywood's opportunities whilst still attacking with a good threat. They scored a further two goals to make it 6v0 after three quarters. In the final quarter, Chilcote managed to be even more clinical and they scored a further three goals, taking nearly every chance that fell their way. The final score was 9v0 to Chilcote. A great performance from the team who put into practice all of the things they have been doing in training.
In the B team game, Chilcote began the match well and immediately took control of the ball. They had a few opportunities to score and managed to take two of them to lead 2v0 after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the game was more even with both teams having some good attacks. Chilcote were the more clinical and took two of their chances. In the thrid quarter, Chilcote played their best netball of the match and really defended brilliantly and attacked with speed. They were rewarded with another goal to make it 5v0 after three quarters. In the final quarter, despite Chilcote having some chances they could not add to their lead. They played well but just couldn't score. This meant the game finished 5v0. Well done to all of the children for putting in a great performance!!!

Year 5 and 6 Mixed Netball Tournament
On Wednesday 10th April 2019, eight children represented Chilcote at a mixed netball tournament held at Kings Heath Boys' School.
In total, nine teams entered the tournament and were split into two groups. Everybody in the group played each other once. The winners from each group went through to a final and the second place team in each group went through to a third and fourth place play-off.
Chilcote were in a group with Hollywood, The Oaks and Grendon. They started their campaign against Hollywood. The game was close with Chilcote having slightly more chances to score. They took a lead but then couldn't capitalise on the lead and conceded an equaliser late on in the match. With the clock ticking down and the match looking like it would be drawn Chilcote put away their last chance of the match with virtually the last throw of the match to win 2v1.
In their second game, Chilcote played against the Oaks. They dominated the ball and the chances. Unfortunately, the missed a few chances but did manage to take an early lead. They continued to be the better team and went on to score two more goals later in the match to make the final score 3v0.
In their final group game, Chilcote played against Grendon and played their best netball of the night. The GA and GS really had their shooting hands with them in this game and Chilcote took many of their chances. They raced into the lead and were then relentless in creating and scoring chances. They ended up winning the match 9v0. Therefore, they qualified for the final as winners of their group.
In the final, Chilcote played against Cotteridge, who had been unbeaten in their group. It was a tough game and Cotteridge scored from their first attack. Chilcote tried their best but just couldn't create opportunities as the Cotteridge defence was too tough. The final score was 4v0 to Cotteridge.
Second place overall is a fantastic achievement! Well done to all of the children involved!!!

On Thursday 28th February the Chilcote mixed netball team played their 5th league game away against Cedars Academy.
In the first quarter, Chilcote were absolutely on fire. They scored 5 goals and rarely missed the target with any of their chances. Some of their passing was amazing and defensively they never looked like letting Cedars into the game.
In the second quarter, Cedars made a change and started brightly. They scored with their first attack. Then, Chilcote found their form again and carried on as they did in the first quarter. The second quarter ended 5v2 to Chilcote and 10v2 overall.
The third quarter saw Chilcote continue their dominance and score a further 6 goals without reply. This meant the score at the end of the third quarter was 16v2.
In the final quarter Chilcote continued to play some wonderful netball both offensively and defensively! They scored another 5 goals without any comeback. The final score was 21v2 to Chilcote. The team played exceptionally well and put in a near perfect performance.
Well done to all of the children involved as they represented the school superbly!!!

Year 5 and 6 Mixed Netball match Vs Hollywood
On Monday 11th February the Chiclcote netball team played against Hollywood School in their fourth league game of the season.
Chilcote A played the two quarters. They played really well and in the first quarter scored 4 goals to get a 4v0 lead. In the second quarter they played well again although their finishing was not quite as clinical. They won the quarter 1v0 so therefore won the game 5v0.
Chilcote B played the second two quarters. They did really well too. They went 1v0 down to a fantastic shot from the Hollywood GA but managed to fight their way back into the game and end the quarter at 1v1. They then had an even second quarter but managed to scrape a winner just before the end of the game. They won 2v1.
Well done to all of the children involved on an excellent display of both netball and sportsmanship!!!

Year 5 and 6 Mixed Netball match vs Cedars
On Thursday 8th November the Chilcote mixed netball team played their third league game against Cedars academy.
In the first quarter, Chilcote started really well and quickly went 2v0 up. Then, Cedars started to come back into the game and got it back to 2v2. Just before the end of the quarter Chilcote made it 3v2.
In the second quarter, the game continued in the same vain with some excellent end to end netball. Cedars scored to make it 3v3 before Chilcote scored to make it 4v3. Both teams had other chances but failed to take them.
The third quarter was the most frustrating from a Chilcote point of view as they spent the majority of the time camped in Cedar’s third and had six good scoring opportunities. Unfortunately, they failed to take any. Cedars did have a few attacks and managed to score on one of these to tie the game at 4v4.
In the final quarter, the game was again very even with both teams having many opportunities. Both teams scored a further 2 goals to make the game end 6v6.
A great game that was very even. Well done to all of the children involved!!!

Chilcote Vs Hollywood (Y5 and 6 mixed netball team)
On Monday 8th October the Chilcote mixed netball team had their second league fixture against Hollywood Primary School. The game took place at Chilcote on the school playground.
The match started with Chilcote scoring almost immediately from their first centre. A great passing move culminating with Milan scoring. Chilcote continued to dominate the ball and therefore the chances. They scored another 5 goals before the end of the quarter to go in 6v0 up.
In the second quarter, Hollywood began to defend better but Chilcote were still playing some excellent netball. The most pleasing thing was how clinical Chilcote were with their chances. The quarter finished 5v1 to Chilcote so 11v1 overall.
In the third quarter, Chilcote score arguably their best goal of the night. They started by intercepting a pass in their own third before passing their way down the pitch with every player touching the ball before Eva scored some ten passes later! The quarter ended 4v0 and the overall score was 15v1.
In the final quarter, Hollywood had their best spell of the night and put together some nice moves of their own. They almost scored on a couple of occasions. Chilcote were not as clinical in this quarter and missed a few chances. The quarter ended 2v0 and the game ended 17v1.
A fantastic result for the team and a great performance. Well done to all of the players involved!!!

Yardley Wood Vs Chilcote (Y5 and 6 Mixed Netball)
On Thursday 4th October 2018 the Chilcote mixed netball team had their first fixture against Yardley Wood.
Chilcote took two teams and played an A and a B fixture against Yardley Wood’s A and B team.
Chilcote’s A team played very well and were clinical with the ball scoring lots of their chances. They took a commanding 6v0 lead at the half time stage. In the final two thirds they continued to dominate and scored some more chances. The game ended 11v1 to Chilcote.
The B team started well in their fixture too. They took an early lead and then continued to dominate. By the half way stage they were 4v0 up - a massive achievement considering this was the first game of netball for most of the team. In the final two quarters they continued to play well but a combination of poorer finishing and a better Yardley Wood performance stopped them from scoring any more goals. The game ended 4v0 to Chilcote.
Well done to all of the children involved as both teams performed really well!!!

Year 5 and 6 Mixed Netball Tournament
On Wednesday 21st March eight children from the Chilcote netball squad represented the school at a mixed high 5 netball tournament at Kings Norton Girls School. In total eight teams took part and were split into two groups of four.
Chilcote were placed into a group with Cotteridge A, Bells Farm and Kings Norton. In their first game they played against Kings Norton. In their second game Chilcote played against Cotteridge A. Cotteridge dominated the match and Chilcote just couldn't get out of their third. Cotteridge deservedly won the game 4v0. Chilcote did have a chance to score right at the end but didn't take it.
Finally, Chilcote played against Bells Farm and they were the more dominant team and had four or five great chances to score. Unfortunately, they did not take any of them. Bells Farm then scored with one of teir two chances in the match and won the game 1v0.
This meant that Chilcote finished fourth in the group and went into a 7th and 8th place play off with Hollywood. Chilcote finally found their shooting hands and took some of their chances. They scored almost straight away and then never looked back. They went on to win the game 3v0 and finish the tournament in 7th place.
Well done to all of the children who represented the school so brilliantly!!!

Netball match Vs Yardley Wood
On Thursday 1st February the Chilcote mixed netball team played against Yardley Wood School on the playground. This was their fourth league game of the year and they were still looking for that elusive victory.
The game started evenly with both teams battling for possession of the ball. It was Yardley Wood who struck first and scored the first goal. Chilcote did not drop their heads however and came back strong by scoring a goal of their own. 1v1 at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Chilcote began to dominate and had a fair amount of chances. Unfortunately, they were a little wasteful with their shooting but they did manage to score two goals to make the score 3v1.
In the third quarter, the game was more even and both sides had a few chances to score. Neither could take them until near the end of the half Chilcote managed to score their fourth goal of the game to lead 4v1.
Finally, in the last quarter the game became very even and possession was being swapped in the middle third. Yardley Wood were on top but without really threatening to score. It was a blank quarter with neither team scoring. The game ended 4v1 to Chilcote.
Well done to all of the children for a terrific performance and result!!!

Mixed Netball: Chilcote Vs Cedars Academy
On Thursday 12th October Chilcote's mixed netball team played their second league fixture at home against Cedars Academy.
In the first quarter, both teams were just feeling their way into the game and Cedars had the upper hand. They were in around Chilcote's semi-circle for a long period of time. However, they did not manage to score so it ended 0v0.
The second quarter was a complete role reversal and Chilcote dominated the match having at least six great chances to score. Unfortunately, they only managed to take one of these chance, but this did mean they ended the quarter 1v0 up.
In the third quarter the game carried on in the same vain with Chilcote dominating the game and having a further five chances to score, but again their finishing let them down and they didn't take any of the chances that came their way. Then, as if to rub salt into the wounds Cedars scored with their only real chance of the quarter and with the last throw of the quarter to make the game 1v1.
In the final quarter, Chilcote started well but again missed their various opportunities to score. Halfway through the half Cedars managed to score another goal to take the lead in the match. From that moment Chilcote struggled to get back into their rhythm and Cedars were on top.
Despite having lots of chances to score Chilcote's inability to convert them meant they lost the game 2v1. All of the players tried their best and represented the school well!

Year 5 and 6 mixed netball match vs Harborne
On Thursday 5th October Chilcote’s mixed netball team played against Harborne school in their first high 5 netball league match.
In the first quarter it quickly became apparent how good Harborne were! They were well drilled and knew their stuff they quickly went into a 6v0 lead.
In the second quarter it was more of the same although Chilcote improved defensively and only conceded 4. The children were using the match as a learning experience, as the Hadborne team were lethal every time they had the ball and punished every mistake.
In the third quarter, Chilcote enjoyed their best spell in the match they rallied and had some attacks of their own. Shayan even managed to bag a goal. The score in this quarter was 2v1 to Harborne.
In the fourth quarter, Harborne regained their superiority and they finished with a flurry of goals. There was just nothing the Chilcote players could do despite their best efforts. Chilcote did manage to grab another consolation goal. The final quarter finished 9v1 to Harborne.
All the children gave their all and tried their best. Harborne were just too good on the day. Everyone should be proud of themselves!!!

Year 6 Girls' Netball match vs St Martins
On Thursday 2nd February the Chilcote girls' netball team played their first match of the season in the 'high five netball league' against St Martins School. The match was played at home.
In the first quarter, both teams started slowly and couldn't get their passing rhythm together. Both teams had a few chances but neither could capitalise on them.
In the second quarter, St Martins began to dominate the ball and made their passes stick better. They took an early lead in this quarter to make it 1v0. Chilcote then had one of their few chances in the quarter and scored to make it 1v1.
In the third quarter, the game continued in the same vein as before with St Martins having more of the ball. Eventually, their pressure told and they went 2v1 up.
In the final quarter, Chilcote came out of the blocks flying and scored almost straight away to make it 2v2. Then, St Martins managed to score, which looked like being the winning point, but with just a minute left to play Chilcote's Goal Shooter held her nerve to level the match. It ended 3v3.
Well done to all of the girls who played in the match, they represented the school brilliantly!!!
