On Tuesday 14th January, 21 children from Year 5 and 6 represented Chilcote in a Sports Hall Athletics Tournament at Kings Heath Boys School.
All of the children took part in at least two events, some took part in three and others in four. Each child was allowed to compete in maximum of 2 track events and 2 field events. The track events were as follows:
Over/under relay
Obstacle relay
1 + 1 lap relay
2 + 2 lap relay
6 lap paarlauf
4 x 1 lap relay
The field events were as follows:
Vertical jump
Chest push
Javelin
St long jump
St triple jump
Speed bounce
After all of the events had finished the distances, times and results were all calculated to give a team score. Out of five schools Chilcote managed to finish in 1st place! A fantastic achievement for all of the children involved!!!

Sportshall Athletics Final
On Wednesday 3rd April, twenty children from Chilcote represented the school in the Sport Birmingham Sportshall Athletics final held at the University of Birmingham Sport and Fitness Centre.
Chilcote qualified for this final courtesy of winning their sports partnership event earlier in the year.
The twenty children had to participate in up to two field events and two track events each. Their times and distances would earn points and these would be added together to give a total score for the team.
The field events were: speed bounce, vertical jump, triple jump, standing long jump, chest push and javelin throw.
The track events were: 2 x 1 lap relay, 2 x 2 lap relay, obstacle relay, over under relay, 6 lap paarluf and 4 x 1 lap relay.
After all of the events the final standings were as follows:
11) St Johns
10) Sacred Heart
9) St Catherines
8) Paget
7) Great Barr
6) West Heath
5) Harper Bell
4) Meer Green
3) Chilcote
2) Hillstone
1) Woodhouse
Chilcote finished in third place overall and third place in Birmingham. What a remarkable achievement! Well done to all involved!!!

Year 5 and 6 Sportshall athletics
On Tuesday 26th February twenty children from Years 5 and 6 represented the school in a mixed sportshall athletics tournament at Kings Heath Boys School.
The tournament was between eight different schools: Hollywood; Chilcote; Yardley Wood; The Oaks; Kings Norton; Robin Hood; Allens Croft; Bells Farm.
The children all represented the school in at least one field event and one track event. Some children did two events in each category.

Summer Games Finals Day
On Friday 13th July eleven Year 5 children and ten Year 4 children represented Chilcote at founders and super 4s athletics respectively, at the Summer Games Finals day. The finals were held at King Edwards School.
Both teams had won the local Kings Heath Partnership tournament in their respective sports and were facing the other area winners from around Birmingham.
The rounders team were one of eleven schools to have qualified. They were put into a group of six and had to play each of those schools once. They lost their first two matches, won the third and then narrowly lost the fourth and fifth. This ,want that they finished in 4th place in their group and finished in 9th place overall. A fantastic achievement by the children - well done to all!!!
The super 4s athletics team were one of 31 schools who qualified for the finals (the top 3 schools from each area qualified). Each child from Chilcote had to perform a standing long jump, a sprint, a long distance run (400m), a javelin throw and finally they ran a relay race as a team. All of the children did their best and performed very well. When they had done everything their distances and times were converted to points as a team. Chilcote finished on 1279 points and in tenth place overall, which was only 100 points off third place. A remarkable achievement - well done to all of the children!!!

Year 4 Cross Country Tournament
On Wednesday 23rd May 2018 twelve Year 4 children from Chilcote represented the school in a cross country competition at Walkers Heath Field.
For the competition there was a girls' race and a boys' race. The distance was 600m. Each child was awarded a finishing position and then the four best finishing positions were added together to give a boys score and a girls score.
The girls ran first and did really well. They scored 74 overall from their four best finishers. They finished in 8th, 13th, 24th, 29th, 49th and 50th out of over 70 girls in total.
The boys ran second and did incredible! They scored a very low score of 34. They finished in 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 41st. To have four boys in the top 10 out of over 70 boys is a remarkable achievement!
The two totals were then added together to give a school total. The results were as follows:
1) Moseley 107
2) Chilcote 108
3) Hollywood 126
4) Kings Norton 133
5) St Josephs 146
6) Yardley Wood 161
7) Bells Farm 190
8) The Oaks 219
Therefore, Chilcote finished in second position overall. What a fantastic achievement by all of the children in who represented Chilcote in the competition, well done to all!!!

Year 3 and 4 Sportshall Athletics Tournament
On Tuesday 30th January eighteen children from Chilcote participated in a mixed sportshall athletics tournament at Kings Heath Boys School. In total five schools participated in the tournament.
The children each had to do two track events from: obstacle relay; 1 + 1 lap relay; 2 + 2 lap relay; 1 + 1 lap hurdles relay; over/under relay; 4 x 1 lap relay.
The children also had to do two events from the field, which were: chest push; standing long jump; five strides jump; vertical jump; soft javelin; speed bounce.
The children had their distances, scores and times measured and this gave them a score which gave Chilcote an overall team score against the other schools.
When all the scores were in and counted the results were as follows:
1) Chilcote
2) Bells Farm
3) Yardley Wood
4) Hollywood
5) The Oaks
A great performance by all of the children and a gold medal finish. All of the children gave their all and did their best so well done to all!!!

The athletic events were 75m sprint, 400m long distance run, standing long jump and a javelin throw. Each child did all of the events and their best time or distance was added to the team's total score.

The athletic events were 75m sprint, 600m long distance run, standing long jump and a javelin throw. Each child did all of the events and their best time or distance was added to the team's total score.
