Year 2 at Peckwood

Last week, lots of Year Two children went on their first ever residential at Peckwood near Alvechurch. We were very lucky to have the sun shining the whole time we were there and we spent most of our time outside playing with each other, exploring the forest and practising the skills we learnt at Forest School.

We worked in teams to collect materials and create dens for our teddy bears.

In the evening, we enjoyed our yummy roast dinner, cooked by Mr Cross, and then had a campfire and talent show. We toasted marshmallows and ate tasty hot dogs before we went on a night walk through the forest.

We spent lots of time playing with each other and our teachers were very impressed with how well we all got on.

Well done to all the children for being very well behaved. We had a wonderful time!

Year 2 at Peckwood

This week, Year 2 have been to their very first school residential. We went to the Peckwood centre, just outside Alvechurch for 2 days. Despite the forecast, the weather was mostly dry and we spent lots of time outside playing on the equipment, exploring the forest and using many of the skills we have learnt at Forest School this year.

We enjoyed playing together on the climbing frames and in the play area, especially using the fireman's pole!

We made a leprechaun land out of things we found around the forest. While we were in the forest, we did a treasure hunt and had to find items including something yellow, an elf's hat and a dragon's scale!

In the evening, we had a night walk with our torches. Mr Cross cooked us a delicious roast dinner and then we had hot chocolate, marshmallows and hot dogs around the campfire.

We used our typing skills to write about some of the things we enjoyed the most.

Year 2 trip to Peckwood

From 22nd-23rd June (2 Willow) and 23rd-24th June (2 Rowan), Year 2 stayed at the Peckwood Centre. The centre has a huge play area and we enjoyed playing with our friends on the equipment.

Playing on the equipment at the centre. We loved the pole!

When we were all together on Thursday, we followed a letter trail through the forest to find some hidden words. We also went on a night walk through the forest with our torches.

We went for a few walks into the forest.

In our own classes, we made dens for our teddies, collected different coloured items from the forest and played some team games. Best of all, in the evening, Mr Cross made a camp fire and we ate hot dogs, toasted marshmallows and had a talent show round the fire. We had a fantastic time!

Mr Cross and Mrs Lyden made a camp fire with the sticks we
collected from around the play area and forest.
Mr Cross made hot dogs and hot chocolate for us.
After the talent show, we toasted marshmallows on the fire.
They were delicious!

Year 3 Residential Trip to Kingswood

On Wednesday 20th April Year 3 went on their residential trip to Kingswood Staffordshire. They spent two nights and three days enjoying the fantastic outdoor facilities.

The children had to make up their own beds upon arrival, which was a great display of home practise. Thank you to all of the parents for helping with this.

During their stay the children enjoyed a range of activities working with different children than they are used to. These included: archery, quad-biking, abseiling, climbing, zip-wire, problem-solving, team tech, fencing, orienteering, a disco and the trail of mystery.

The children also spent some of their pocket money in the shop buying an assortment of different souvenirs and sweets.

All of the adults who accompanied Year 3 were very proud of the way they represented the school. Their behaviour and levels of respect for all adults was exemplary throughout. Well done Year 3!!!
