Girls' football - Chilcote vs The Oaks

On Friday 13th October the Chilcote girls’ football team played against The Oaks School in their second league fixture.

The game started off quite scrappy with The Oaks having more of the ball in the Chilcote half of the pitch. Typically though it was Chilcote who had the first chamce of the game with Anna putting the ball wide from a cut back. The Oaks continued to huff and puff but didn’t work Katie in the Chilcote goal. Anna then had another great chance but the defender made a great block to deny her.  Just before the end of the half The Oals had their best shot of the match but Latie pulled off a great save to keep the score level at the break.

In the second half The Oaks continued to have more possession and attacks. Chilcote defended well throughout the half and ventured forward occasionally on the counter attack. Unfortunately, they didn't really test the opposition goalie. Then three minutes from the end disaster struck as The Oaks played a nice passing move and found their striker who duly found the bottom corner. They had another chance just before the end but Katie produced a great double save. The game ended 1v0.

A great effort from all of the girls and a good performance, well done to all!!!
