On Friday 27th March Chilcote played their last
league game against Wheelers Lane Primary School. Chilcote needed to win if
they were to have any chance of winning the title.
The match started well for Chilcote and they scored a goal
early in the game. The ball was bouncing around after a corner and Regan
smashed the ball home from the edge of the area. Wheelers were stung into
action and started to bombard the Chilcote goal. They had a number of throw ins
and crosses put into the box, and after a poor clearance they put the ball into
the back of the Chilcote net. After that, they scored from another throw in
this time the player headed the ball into the corner of the net. Then, more
trouble for Chilcote as the same player completed his hat-trick and scored with
a lovely finish to make it 3v1 to Wheelers. Chilcote had been undone by some
sloppy defending. After half time Chilcote played much better and kept things
tight defensively. Unfortunately, they couldn’t find a way back into the match
so the game ended 3v1. Well done to all of the boys for their efforts, not just
in this match, but throughout the entire season. They have done Chilcote
proud!!!
